Returning to Work

So, I'm not sure if I mentioned it previously, but I've been home from work for a month now. Nothing serious like I got fired or anything... I was hurt while at work. Not on the clock mind you, but in the vacinity while on lunch. Some of the roads in Philadelphia are just not good... and as well as you try to navigate, sometimes it just don't happen. One such day, I stepped on some uneven pavement and rolled my ankle to the point it seemed fractured. Which is what the doctor actually diagnosed me having. The doc told me to stay home but I didn't want any trouble at work so I tried to goto work anyway. This didn't work out so well. The boot I was prescribed really didn't work well and made most of my activities painful. So, I took some coworkers advice and applied for STD. That's not sexually transmitted disease... its stands for short term disability. During which my pay would be taken care of @ 75% my normal rate. This isn't half bad, but I wouldn't be eligible for any type of bonus for this month... seeing as I wasn't there participating... In a nut shell, they're paying me 75% my hourly to stay home and rest.... Well, it's ending. Tomorrow I'm officially back to work. I hope this house can get along without me... I know the wife would've loved me home a little longer considering we just had baby Ethan on the 13th.

Another Game? Maybe?

So, 2 posts ago I asked what game I should buy. Without actually replying… Sorry. So, after much deliberation (amongst myself mind you), I decided to go with Destiny: The Taken King. Here’s why…

First up… The amount of people I currently play online with. I share games through Xbox One with my best friend Mike. This is very beneficial for both of us. He gets the games that I buy digitally and I get what he buys digitally. He’s got 3 kids screaming to play the Lego games all the time so he buys them and my son gets to play them. Now, I know what youre thinking, how’s that affect me. He loves Sci-Fi… Is a nut for it… So I thought he’s play with me… BZZZT! Wrong, he wont… but that’s ok with me. You can play Destiny alone, and so I do.

Second… Time invested. I actually, at this point have 3 characters that are hovering 1 or 2 levels around level 30. Granted that its now 40 with TTK expansion so I’ll have to work harder to catch up. Plus I just like playing the game. Yea it’s a year old but there’s no dust on it and it looks like they are changing things and adding just enough to truly keep it interesting.

Thirdly… The other choices were just not as strong. They were good but I think this had more content at the time and I didn’t want to pre-order anything at the time. I know I put them in for a possibility but I leaned more towards what was out right now.

So… in closing… ONWARD TO VICTORY! Or… push back the Darkness… or Time to get to 40! The MMO feel of this Sci-fi shooter add a whole other dynamic that I really like. I mean who doesn’t like to feel accomplished when they get to level up that new exotic weapon or blowing away 3 guardians that were capping one of your points in the crucible.

Sunday Sunday SUNDAY!

Football season is back in full swing and its week 2 in the NFL. My Philadelphia Eagles take on our long rivals the Dallas Cowboys... @HOME! Hopefully its going to be a slaughter... Romo is weak and hes lacking his big guy on the outside Dez Bryant. I believe that all the important Philly players are healthy and hopefully we have a better outing than last week. Still can't believe we lost that one so late in the 4th.

Also... FANTASY FOOTBALL!!! Cuz who doesn't play fantasy football in this day and age? I'm actually in 3 leagues this year... 2 paid and 1 free.

The paid ones are through

The free one is through

What game should I buy?

I think I talked about this recently... Through performance at work I ended up with $100 in Xbox credit ($50 of which went towards my half of Madden NFL 16 Ultimate Edition) and I also received another $50 for my birthday... Being a Madden Ultimate Team player... I couldn't resist the temptation and ended up buying Madden points so I could buy some limited edition packs... Which I got good card from...

I'm now left with $40 in credit and my wife decided to buy me another $25 so I could purchase a game. Thing is... I don't know what game I should buy. There are some options... Not sure what's going to be able to tear me away from Madden though seeing as its football season.

  1. Destiny: The Taken King (Bundle) - This option is very tempting but at the same time isn't very attractive as I already own Destiny in digital form. I'd basically be spending $60 to get the 3 expansions and an addon weapons pack.
  2. Forza Motorsport 6 - Let me start this options with... I LOVE RACING. That being said, I've owned every Forza released and even bought 2 of them twice... once on purpose. The only downside to this is that the $60 version doesn't include the VIP and expansion pass which really is the bread and butter of this game... FM5 was PLAGUED by microtransactions and it really spoiled it for me... I don't think I've logged 20 hours with 5. Which is really low for me considering the 200+ hours I put into 3 and 4. TBH tho... this is the front runner I think...
Those 2 are what is available right now... I also have the option of pre-ordering a game... and there are some AWESOME ones on the horizon.
  1. Halo 5: Guardians - If I need to write anything about this game... then you obviously haven't seen any of the trailers or gameplay footage because DAMN!.
  2. Rise of the Tomb Raider - After the reboot of the game, which I played and loved... this game is firmly on my radar. If they can build on some of the gameplay mechanics and the story that was well done from the last game then this could be a contender for GOTY... but there's a lot of stiff competition.
  3. Star Wars Battlefront - Sci-Fi is one of my geek out pleasures and I've been a fan of Star Wars since I was a little boy. I loved their last take on the Battlefront series and this looks to be amazing. Not just a Star Wars skin for Battlefield but alot of unique game elements and modes that should remain true to the source material. One to watch for sure.
  4. Rainbow Six: Siege - This one is on the backside of my watch. I've never really been a huge Rainbow Six fan and i can count on one hand how many times I've played one of the. This one does look rather interesting though... Sporting squad v squad combat with fully destructible environments... not like BF but FULLY destructive. I watched a gameplay video where they were breaking holes in the walls to shoot through... Crazy!

Holy Shit... Treasure!

So I posted yesterday about Yomanga... and how they are scanlating/translating some Manhwa and webtoon series... but I was not prepared for what I found today. So I'll just come out with it...

There is soooooo much content. FOR FREE!!!

I already started reading 2 separate series and I'm thinking about starting a 3rd.

1st up is... The Gamer

2nd up is... Where Tangents Meet

The 3rd... I haven't decided yet... I'm gonna poke my nose around and see what looks good... All of this on top of what I'm already reading at Batoto/Mangahere.

Site is Stumbled On...

So I think I've said in the past or you should know this about me know... I love manga. There are other forms of manga also though that some people may not know about. Manhwa (Man-wa) is korean and is actually read from left to right like publications here in the states.

I seem to find alot of these Manhwa in the form of WEBTOONs. This is like a separate classification all its own on most of the manga reading sites. I just stumbled onto a site I found after finding a new Webtoon to read. The Webtoon is called 'Sweet Guy' [Batoto]. The scanlators include in their info page, a web address that states Batoto gets the chapters 24 hours after its released on their site. Well... why not read it there?!

Thats what I did.

They have a few other series that I like and I thought it might be nice to share this website. It's called...

TERRAFORMARS Completed!

This is not a new series but I finally got around to finishing it on Crunchyroll. Its only 13 episodes but I really think that the source material has a far way to go... Plus they kind of ended it with a huge opening for a second series. I don't think I've heard of another season being produced tho. Guess I'll just have to start reading the manga if I really wanna find out what happens.

The show is basically about... I'm going to paraphrase here... A group of genetically modified humans that set out to Mars in hopes of capturing 'specimen' to help cure a deadly disease on earth that was brought back from the last expedition to Mars.

The Good: Action sequences and Animations were great. The types of genetic alterations were kind of cool and not something you'd think of.

The Bad: Not really enough plot development IMO. I know they tried to touch on some of the more significant characters back stories but it's kind of a fatal flaw when you only have 13 episodes to deal with. If they had the full 24-26 episodes then maybe things could have been fleshed out a little more. They tried to make us care for them but they died anyway and the story just kept moving.

Nothing really ugly about this show other than its pretty violent... That only made me more interested because I dig stuff like that but I know that aspect could turn some people off. Granted they aren't killing 'people' but they are humanoids.

Manga of the Week!!!

So if you’ve been reading this blog for a while… that is to say maybe the 10 or so people who visit it… Then you probably know that I read a lot of manga. I think that there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t read at least one or two chapters a day. Whether that be a long running series that I’m catching up on or if I run across something that catches my eye… Whatever it may be, I’m always going to be reading something.

It might have been a while since I really posted about a manga I read but here goes.
While skimming my list of manga that’s in my app Mangawatcher [Link]. This app is not on the play store anymore so if you’re gonna use it then you have to side load it to your android device. I’ve looked for a while for something of the equivalent on the iOS side of things but there really isn’t anything that truly comes close. Manga Rock is probably the closest but I just don’t like the way its setup. Anyway… On to the manga!

This week I started and completed something that’s been sitting there for a while now.

Countrouble
[MAL] [Batoto] <~~Read it @batoto ^_^
Genre:  Comedy, Romance, School, Shounen, Harem, Supernatural
Synopsis: About a boy... Well and boy and an angel. He's in love with the schools #1 cool beauty while being completely unable to approach her. An angel pops into his life to help him with his love situation and its her goal to help him fall in love. The story and hijinx ensue and its a fun whimsical little tale about first loves and how people need to gain courage and confess.

This is a really great story. I'm not biased on story length but I think this is just long enough to get invested with the characters and for the story to properly develop. It got decent user ratings on both of the sites I linked. 4.47/5 on Batoto and 7.56/10 on MAL. I personally gave it an 8/10 on MAL and 4/5 on Batoto.

MMO News

2 little bits of info for today... I guess technically they are both related but not related. Both involve MMO's that are going free to play.
Thats right... In the not so distant future, Wildstar Online will be going free to play. Although this isn't what you would call breaking news, I still think it's relevant considering its going to be happening soon from what I gathered.

So apparently Guild Wars 2 is now ALSO free to play... Though for the life of me I simply cannot get an account registered. I'm not exactly sure why either. I've changed the registration information like 3 or 4 times trying to make it adhere to whatever kind of parameters they have set and it just wont take them... Maybe I'll try again another day.

Thats it for the news... not that I do it all that often. Maybe just more when its relevant. But in truth I've wanted to try both of these MMO's after being a long-time WoW subber and nearly played that for about 10 years off and on. Well... 7 years straight and then after I quit I had small times where it piqued my interest again and I would find myself a subscriber again. All good though... I'm really not sure that I'm going to be picking up this latest expansion of WoW as I really have no time to play the game and devote the hours and hours on end that a game like that needs. But never say never... the world is a strange place and I've seen stranger things happen and me resubscribing and purchasing an expansion for to get a gander at some new content.

Games with Gold for September

Everyone likes free shit right? Since June of 2013 Microsoft has been giving away games religiously every month through this program. There have been some really great games along the way and owning them digitally is a real help. You can basically download them whenever you wanted... Even though it started on the 360 its continued its legacy on the Xbox One.

[List of Games]

Just to point out a few really awesome ones...

Halo 3 (360) October 2013
Gears of War (360) December 2013
Saints Row: The Third (360) May 2014
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (360) June 2014
Halo: Spartan Assault (One) June 2014
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (One) July 2015
Rayman Legends (One) March 2015
Bioshock Infinite (360) March 2015
Gears of War 3 (360) July 2015

This month is no exception...

Well, the Deer God game is really weird.. (yea I tried it... its horrible)

The second half of September... Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition

Forza 6 is Almost Here!

I have been playing Forza since its inception on the original xbox. I've literally owned every single one. I think 4 was the best simply for the sheer amount of content that came with the GOTY edition... which I ended up buying as a second copy. Yes, I bought more than one copy... and it wasn't the first time either. I actually bought 2 copies of FM3 as well.

So it's that time again...

This year its a whole new ball game... More cloud computing and Drivatars and now we get the new Ford GT and a boat load of Autovista cars. In 5 there weren't that many that got the full Autovista treatment but this time I think its like 400+ cars and the gameplay is running in 1080p60fps. Thats blazing fast.

I just downloaded the demo and played through the limited career mode they offered... Which is about 3 to 5 races long and at the end it opens up the Rivals Mode which has leaderboard functionality. I only did the first race and my first time was good enough for about 800+ place on the leaderboard. I'm sure if I spent more time with it that I could probably get it down but who's got time for that? There are far too many games coming out this holiday season... Not to mention that Madden is still in full swing. I really wanna pick this game up but it may have to wait.
